Research Projects

Prostate Cancer Study.

We are pleased to inform you that the Longcroft clinic is working with world class prostate cancer genetic experts at the Institute of Cancer Research, London,  on an exciting new research project.

The aim of this study is to investigate how we can use our knowledge of genetics to identify men at a higher risk of developing prostate cancer. Furthermore, we are researching whether or not a genetic profile may be used as a tool to identify men at higher risk so that they can be offered prostate cancer screening in order to pick up an early stage cancer that would be treatable and curable.

So if you are a patient of the clinic, caucasian male, aged between 55-69 years and never had a prostatic biopsy or on anticoagulants and interested in taking part please email the Longcoft clinic on longcroftclinic@nhs.net and we will send you the information sheet,  eligibility criteria and consent form.
